CRuNCH joins the Food Education Network

Just 38% of food teachers believe they have enough curriculum time to deliver food education effectively.
We’re delighted to announce that CRuNCH has been invited to join the Food Education Network (FEN). This is a national network bringing together some brilliant organisations and individuals working to improve food education across the UK.
For CRuNCH, this feels like an important step and we are very flattered to have been asked to join.
We started CRuNCH because we believe every young person should leave school with the confidence and practical skills to cook at least five simple, healthy meals from scratch. Yet food education in schools is under enormous pressure.
A national survey found that just 38% of food teachers believe they have enough curriculum time to deliver food education effectively.
Teachers are doing their best, but schools can’t do this alone.

That’s why being part of FEN is so valuable.
It gives us the opportunity to learn from others doing brilliant work across the country, share what we’re discovering through our own work with teenagers, develop new collaborations and add our voice to the growing call for practical food education to be given the priority it deserves.
Through our Cook5 with CRuNCH programmes, we see first-hand what can happen when young people are given the time and space to get into a kitchen and actually cook. They learn practical skills, try new foods, grow in confidence and discover that making good food from scratch can be achievable, affordable – AND FUN.
We we want that opportunity for far more young people.

TBy joining FEN, we become part of a much bigger movement working towards the same goal: a generation of young people who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to feed themselves well.
We’re very proud to be joining the network and look forward to sharing ideas, learning from fellow members and, together, helping put food education firmly on the agenda.
